Choppity alternatives: how KeyMo compares on price, limits and clips

By the KeyMo team · Updated

Choppity is the better pick if you want a free plan, 4K export or a social scheduler in the same app. KeyMo is the alternative for a flat price counted in source minutes, one clear watermark rule and scored 9:16 clips. Choppity Starter is $24 a month; KeyMo Starter is $12, with no free plan and no trial.

Who Choppity is for

Choppity is a clipper from Mizko Media Pty Ltd that also works as a light editor. You drop in a YouTube, Vimeo or Twitch link or an upload, and it finds clips, reframes them to 9:16 and burns in animated word-by-word captions. Its own pages say one hour of video typically gives 20-40 clips, which is a vendor claim, not a result we measured.

Around that core it adds transcript editing, a Clip anything request box (for example, find every moment a name is mentioned), split-screen layouts for multi-speaker videos, an API, and a planner and scheduler for social posts. It suits creators and small teams who want editing and publishing in one place. If your work is mostly long podcasts, compare it with KeyMo's podcast clip generator.

Where Choppity is the better choice

  • A free plan with no credit card required, covering 1 hour of AI video analysis a month. KeyMo has none.
  • Paid exports of 1080p HD and 4K. KeyMo exports 1080x1920 only.
  • Editing by transcript: delete a word and it is cut from the video, and B-roll or images can be anchored to the text. KeyMo edits by chat.
  • Scheduling to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn from Starter upward.
  • Multi-speaker handling: it keeps the active speaker centred, builds split-screen layouts and can colour captions per speaker.
  • Asking for specific moments in plain words, plus an API from the Creator plan and team roles on Team.
  • Projects kept forever on Creator and Team, where KeyMo keeps source files for 7 days and clips for 30.

Where KeyMo is the better choice

  • One watermark rule. KeyMo adds none on any plan. Choppity's pages contradict each other about free exports (see below).
  • A lower starting price: $12 a month for 300 source minutes, against $24 for 3 hours of AI analysis. The two meters may not match one for one, since Choppity does not spell out what an hour of analysis covers.
  • A quality bar. Choppity gives each clip a relevance score. KeyMo gives a score out of 10 with a one-line reason and keeps only clips scoring 7 or higher, so a weak episode returns fewer clips.
  • Longer sources: up to 180 minutes per video, up to 10 GB. Choppity's tool pages cap uploads at 10 GB and 120 minutes, and the pricing page gives no length limit.
  • Prices in rupees for visitors in India: Rs 799 and Rs 1,999.

Example: a 90-minute interview. Choppity's own page says the Free plan includes up to 1 hour of video per upload, so this one needs a paid plan, and Starter's 3 hours of analysis would cover two such videos a month if analysis time tracks video length. KeyMo Starter's 300 source minutes cover three of them, and each upload is within the 180-minute limit.

Choppity pricing, free plan and watermark questions

  • Is it free? Yes, at the entry level. The pricing page says to start free with limited features, no credit card required, and it describes no time-limited trial of paid plans.
  • Watermark: its free clip maker FAQ and its YouTube to Shorts page say free exports carry a small watermark that paid plans remove. Its podcast clip and free caption pages say the free tier has no watermark. The pricing page is silent, and the comparison table shows a dash for Free exports. Check an export before you rely on Free.
  • Free may not stay free: its terms reserve the right to make previously free parts of the service subject to a fee.
  • Cancelling and refunds: cancel or downgrade from account settings; access ends with the billing period. Refund requests must be made within 14 days of payment through a support case, which Choppity evaluates.

Who should pick which

  • Pick Choppity if you want to start free, need 4K, edit by transcript, or schedule posts from the same tool.
  • Pick KeyMo if you start from long podcasts or interviews, want a flat price in source minutes, and want clips scored and no watermark under any plan.
  • Also compare Submagic and Opus Clip before you decide.
