Use case

YouTube to Shorts converter

KeyMo turns a long YouTube video into up to 15 vertical clips for Shorts. Paste the link on a paid plan, or upload the MP4. Link import fetches up to 1080p and asks you to confirm you own the video or have permission. Clips are 9:16 at 1080x1920 with captions and no watermark, never 16:9. There is no free plan.

How it works

  1. 1

Make sure you can use the video

Use your own videos, or ones where the creator has given you permission. KeyMo asks you to confirm this before it imports a YouTube link.

  2. 2

Paste the link or upload the file

Link import is on paid plans and fetches up to 1080p. Or upload an MP4 or MOV instead. Either way the video must run 5 minutes to 3 hours, and an upload can be up to 10 GB.

  3. 3

    Pick a clip length

Auto chooses 15 to 90 seconds per clip. Short is 20 to 40 seconds, Medium is 40 to 60 and Long is 60 to 90.

  4. 4

    Review the scored clips

KeyMo returns up to 15 clips, each with a score out of 10 and a one-line reason. Only clips scoring 7 or higher are kept, so a weak video returns fewer.

  5. 5

    Set captions and tweak

Choose one of 12 caption styles, or none. To change a clip, open it in the chat editor and tell KeyMo what you want.

  6. 6

    Download and upload

Export each clip or the whole set as a ZIP. Files are 9:16, 1080x1920, 30 fps, H.264/AAC, with no watermark on any plan. Then upload them to YouTube Shorts yourself.

Why creators pick it

  • No separate download step

On a paid plan you paste the link and KeyMo imports the video, so you do not need a download tool first.

  • Reframed to 9:16

Automatic face-tracking reframe to vertical, with silence trimmed.

  • Word-by-word captions

12 caption styles, or no captions. Pro Glow, Bold Pop, Clean, Punch, Classic, Spotlight, Pulse, Karaoke, Reader, Duo, Slide and Headline.

  • Score and reason

Each clip has a score out of 10 and a short line on why it was picked, so you can post the strongest ones first.

  • Limits to know

Link import only fetches up to 1080p. Output is vertical 9:16 only. There is no free plan and no trial. Starter is $12 a month for 300 source minutes and Pro is $29 a month for 900.
