Crayo AI alternative: KeyMo for clipping podcasts and long videos
By the KeyMo team · Updated
KeyMo is a Crayo AI alternative if most of your work is cutting clips out of podcasts and long videos. Crayo also generates Reddit-story and text-message videos with AI voiceovers, and offers an API. Neither has a free plan: Crayo says it has none, and KeyMo starts at $12 a month. Prices below were read on 2026-10-11.
Who Crayo is for
Crayo calls itself an AI video editor for clippers. Its pricing page defines a workflow credit as one video generated by Crayo's AI, and the tools that spend those credits include AutoClip, Reddit videos and fake texts. It also lists 100+ AI voices for voiceovers. So Crayo covers two jobs: generating videos such as Reddit stories and fake texts, and cutting clips out of existing footage.
The second job is the one KeyMo does. Crayo's AutoClip takes a YouTube or TikTok link or an uploaded file, scores each clip so you can post the strongest first, and crops podcast clips to 9:16. If you only ever clip, you pay for a lot of tooling you do not touch. If you also make Reddit-story or text-message videos, that tooling is the point.
Crayo AI pricing: does Crayo AI cost money?
Yes. Crayo's own comparison page says it has no free plan and no trial. What it does give away is twelve browser tools that run on your device with no signup and no watermark. Those are separate utilities, not the editor or AutoClip. The paid plans below were read on 2026-10-11.
| Plan | Billed yearly (per month) | Billed monthly | Workflow credits / month | Export time / month | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hobby | $13 ($160 a year) | $19 | 250 | 2 hours | 25 GB |
| Clipper | $27 ($327 a year) | $39 | 1,000 | 10 hours | 100 GB |
| Pro | $55 ($664 a year) | $79 | 3,000 | 30 hours | 500 GB |
Two things make the table easy to misread. The pricing page opens on the yearly view, so the headline $13, $27 and $55 only apply if you pay for twelve months at once. And credits are not the only cap. An export minute is the length of video you can generate, so on Hobby a 45-second clip uses 45 of your 7,200 export seconds. Two hours of export covers about 160 clips of that length, which is under the 250-credit cap, so export time runs out first.
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over. Every plan includes every Crayo tool; the plans differ only in quantity.
Where Crayo is better
- It makes videos, not just clips. Reddit videos, fake texts and AI voiceovers are part of every plan. KeyMo only clips video you already have.
- More room for volume. Pro gives 3,000 credits and 30 hours of export a month, and Crayo's AutoClip returns 1 to 20 clips per run, against KeyMo's cap of 15 per video.
- Shorter inputs. Crayo's comparison page says AutoClip accepts videos from 1 minute to 3 hours, while KeyMo needs at least 5 minutes.
- More caption choice. Crayo advertises 15+ caption styles on its homepage and 32 on its comparison page (the two pages disagree), against KeyMo's 12.
- A developer API. Crayo documents 34 endpoints and says the API spends the same credits as the app.
- Language count. Crayo says it transcribes 56 spoken languages. This page makes no claim about which languages KeyMo handles, so check a sample if yours is not English.
- A tool that is free to try in pieces: the twelve browser tools need no account.
Where KeyMo is better
KeyMo does one job, turning a long video into finished vertical clips, and its limits are in plain minutes of source video. These are the places it comes out ahead, using only facts we can state.
- Every clip gets a score out of 10 and a one-line reason, and only clips scoring 7 or higher are kept. A weak episode returns fewer clips instead of padding the batch.
- Plans count source minutes: Starter is $12 a month for 300 minutes, Pro is $29 for 900. You can work out what an episode costs before you upload it.
- Uploads up to 10 GB, against the 4 GB Crayo's comparison page gives for AutoClip.
- Fixed output: up to 15 clips per video at 1080x1920, 30 fps, H.264/AAC, with no watermark on any plan.
- Face-tracking 9:16 reframe, silence trimmed, a chat editor where you tell KeyMo what to change, a music library with moods, and a ZIP export of all clips.
| KeyMo | Crayo | |
|---|---|---|
| Cheapest paid plan | $12 a month (Starter) | $19 a month, or $13 a month billed yearly (Hobby) |
| Free plan or trial | None | None (twelve free browser tools) |
| What the allowance counts | Minutes of source video (300 / 900) | Workflow credits and export hours |
| Longest source video | 180 minutes, up to 10 GB | 3 hours, up to 4 GB (per Crayo's comparison page) |
| Per-clip score | Out of 10, with a reason | Ranks moments; its Auto Clip page says it scores each clip, scale not stated |
| Output | 9:16, 1080x1920, 30 fps | Up to 1080p, 9:16 for podcast clips |
Free Crayo AI alternatives
KeyMo is not a free Crayo AI alternative. It has no free plan and no trial, so the first clip costs the $12 Starter month. If a free tier matters more than anything else, two tools we checked have one:
- OpusClip's Free plan gives 60 credits a month with a watermark, no editing, and clips that stop being exportable after 3 days. See the Opus Clip alternative page.
- Vizard's Free plan gives 60 credits a month, 720p export, a Vizard watermark and 3-day project storage. See the Vizard alternative page.
Both free plans are limited. A watermarked, 720p or expiring clip is fine for testing the output and awkward for anything you want to post.
Other things to weigh
- Refunds. Crayo's refund policy says all sales are final. You can cancel from Settings and the plan runs to the end of the billing cycle, but nothing is paid back.
- Watermarks. Crayo's pricing, feature and FAQ pages do not say whether paid exports carry one. Its comparison page mentions "no watermarked tier". Ask Crayo before paying if this matters; KeyMo has no watermark on any plan.
- Seats. Crayo's comparison page describes it as single-seat on every plan.
- Credits do not roll over. Unused Crayo credits are gone at the next billing cycle.
- Age. Crayo's terms say the service is not intended for anyone under 18.
- Retention. KeyMo keeps source files 7 days and finished clips 30 days, so download what you need.
Who should pick which
- Pick KeyMo if you clip podcasts, interviews or streams and want a score and a reason on each clip, a fixed price, and minutes you can count. Start with the podcast clip generator or see KeyMo pricing.
- Pick Crayo if you also make Reddit-story or text-message videos with AI voiceovers, need the API, want to cut videos shorter than 5 minutes, or need a transcription language that KeyMo does not list.
- Pick neither yet if you need a free plan to test a workflow. Try the free tiers above first, then decide.
