AI captions without watermark: what to check before you pay

By Rakshit · Updated

KeyMo puts no watermark on any plan, but it has no free plan either, so there is nothing to test for free. For any other caption tool, export a 10-second clip with the settings you will really use, play it full screen on your phone, and check all four corners and the last second.

What each tool says about watermarks

On most of the tools below, the watermark depends on which plan you are on. People who search for ai captions no watermark free usually want three things at once: no cost, clean video and correct words. A few tools below offer no cost and no watermark, but with tight limits, so decide which of the three you can give up.

Here is what each tool's own pages said about watermarks when we read them on 11 October 2026. We only list what the vendor wrote, and where a vendor's pages disagree with each other, we say so.

ToolWhat its own pages say about watermarksWorth knowing
OpusClipFree plan exports have a watermark. Starter and Pro list watermark removal. On the free plan, clips stop being exportable after 3 days.
VizardFree exports carry a Vizard.ai watermark. The Creator plan lists no watermark.Free exports are 720p on its pricing page.
KapwingEvery Free export has a watermark in the bottom right corner. Paid plans export without it.A project exported with the watermark can be re-exported clean after you upgrade.

ReapFree exports are watermarked at 720p. Creator is described as 1080p and watermark-free.The free plan covers 1 hour a month of captions.
EklipseFree-tier exports carry a small watermark that Premium removes. Its help centre also says there is no free clipping tier now, so check what you can export before signing up.
KlapSays it never adds its own watermark, including on the free plan. The free offer is a single video.

ChoppityIts pages disagree: some say free exports have a small watermark, others say the free tier has none.Run the test below before relying on it.

The 10-second test for any caption tool

Run this before you commit to a subscription or build a workflow around a tool. It takes about ten minutes.

  1. Pick a 10-second stretch with a name, a number and fast talking, so the test covers the hard cases.
  2. Export it with the plan, resolution and aspect ratio you will use for real, not the editor preview.
  3. Play the file full screen on a phone, not in the editor preview.
  4. Look at all four corners, then watch the last two seconds for an end card or outro. CapCut's own help page says template watermarks usually come from a default ending clip.
  5. Read the captions against the audio, word by word. One missing not can reverse a sentence.
  6. Check the file itself: is it 9:16 if you post to Shorts, Reels or TikTok, and does it open cleanly in the app you post from?

One more trap: a clip you downloaded on a free plan keeps its logo. Eklipse's help centre says old downloads keep the watermark unless you re-export, and Kapwing says a project exported with the watermark can be re-exported without it after you upgrade. Keep the project, not just the file.

No watermark is not the same as ready to post

W3C's accessibility guidance says automatically generated captions do not meet user needs unless someone confirms they are fully accurate, and that they usually need significant editing. It gives the example of a missing not making the captions contradict the audio. YouTube says the same about its own automatic captions: quality varies, so review and edit them.

So after the watermark test, read the whole clip once. Also decide whether you want the captions burned into the picture. The W3C describes open captions as always displayed and impossible to turn off. That suits short vertical video. If you want viewers to switch captions off, or you need a caption file, check that the tool exports one. VEED, Kapwing and Reap list SRT or VTT downloads on their pages.

Where KeyMo fits

KeyMo is built to cut long videos into vertical clips, not to caption a finished 30-second video. You give it a video of 5 minutes to 3 hours, up to 10 GB, by pasting a YouTube link or uploading an MP4 or MOV. It returns up to 15 clips at 1080x1920 and 30 fps, each captioned word by word in one of 12 styles, or with no captions. There is no watermark on any plan.

The honest limits: KeyMo has no free plan, so you cannot try it before paying. Starter is $12 a month for 300 source minutes and Pro is $29 a month for 900 (Rs 799 and Rs 1,999 for visitors in India). Link import fetches up to 1080p, and you confirm you own the video or have permission to use it. Details are on the pricing page.

If you have a podcast or interview to cut into captioned clips, KeyMo for podcast clips with no watermark is the closest fit. If you only need captions on a short video you already have, use one of the tools above, and compare their styles in our guide to the best auto captions apps.

FAQ

Is there a free AI caption generator with no watermark?

Some tools say so, with limits. Klap's page says it never adds its own watermark, including on the free plan, which is one video. Captions' help centre lists no watermarks on Free, but AI features need a paid plan to export. KeyMo has no free plan.

Does KeyMo add a watermark to captioned clips?

No. KeyMo exports have no watermark on any plan. Because there is no free plan, every export comes from a paid Starter or Pro plan, with clips at 1080x1920 in 9:16.

Can I remove a watermark from a clip I already downloaded?

The vendors we read describe one route: re-export the project after upgrading. Kapwing says this works, and Eklipse says old downloads keep the watermark unless you re-export. A file that already has the logo burned in stays as it is.

Is a subtitle maker different from a caption generator when it comes to watermarks?

No. The watermark rule belongs to the plan, not to the label. The W3C also notes that subtitles are implemented the same way as captions, so check the plan and run the 10-second test on either.

Why do some free plans make clips disappear after a few days?

Some free plans also limit how long your files last. OpusClip says free clips stop being exportable after 3 days, Kapwing deletes free projects older than 3 days, and Reap expires free projects after 7 days. Download what you need straight away.
