Best AI clip generators for turning long video into clips
By Rakshit · Updated
No single AI clip generator wins for everyone. OpusClip takes files up to 10 hours and has the longest list of import sources. Klap sells by clip count. Vizard lets you steer clips with a prompt. Eklipse targets game streams. KeyMo returns scored 9:16 clips from podcasts and interviews. Check watermark and length limits before you pick.
How we chose these tools
We looked for tools that take a long video as a link or a file, pick the moments worth keeping, reframe them to vertical and add captions. Text-to-video makers and YouTube SEO add-ons are left out here and covered in our guide to AI shorts generators.
Every price, limit and feature below was read from the vendor's own pricing, help or tool pages on 11 October 2026. We did not use review sites, and we did not use vendor claims about accuracy or views to rank anything. We also do not give an overall 1 to 8 order. A ranking would hide the fact that the right tool depends on what you feed it, so each tool is placed by the situation it fits. KeyMo is on the list, with its limits.
The list at a glance

Where each one wins, and what to watch
- OpusClip: the widest intake in this group. Its help centre lists YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, Zoom, Twitch, Dropbox and more, with extra sources on higher plans. Pro adds a team workspace with 2 seats and a social scheduler. Processing costs 1 credit per minute of source video, and free-plan clips stop being exportable after 3 days.
- Klap: sells by clips (100, 300 or 1,000 a month) and includes unlimited social accounts on paid plans. Its homepage FAQ quotes $29 a month while its pricing page shows $14, $39 and $94, so confirm the price at checkout. Its AI clip maker page notes that Klap requires video podcasts.
- Vizard: you can describe what you want, for example the part about fundraising mistakes, and a prompt reduces the number of clips. Its help centre says it works best on speech-based video and recommends videos longer than 15 minutes.
- Reap: the most source hours at the lowest entry price in this table, going by the plans as stated. Clipping runs from 1 minute to 3 hours per video, but reframing and editor processing cost 2 credits per minute, and some features are marked beta or coming soon.
- Choppity: detects who is talking, switches focus to them and builds split-screen layouts for multi-speaker video. Its own pages disagree on whether free exports carry a watermark.
- Kapwing: an editor first. Repurpose Studio costs 2 credits per minute of input and returns 3 to 5 clips by default, which then open in a full editing studio.
- Eklipse: built for gamers and streamers. Its own comparison page says OpusClip is the better fit for podcasts and talking-head video.
- Captions and VEED also have clip tools. Captions Clips needs the Max plan and takes up to 3 hours or 10 GB. VEED AI Clips scores each clip out of 10 for flow, impact, clarity and relevance, but does not accept YouTube links.
What a free plan really buys you
Three tools here give about one hour of source video a month on the free plan, with a watermark: OpusClip and Vizard as 60 credits at one credit per minute, and Reap as 1 hour. In other words, one episode. It is enough to judge the clip picking, but not to run a show.
Kapwing is tighter. Its Free plan has 10 lifetime credits and Repurpose Studio costs 2 credits per input minute. By our arithmetic from those stated rates, that covers 5 minutes of source video, while Kapwing recommends at least 10 minutes for best results. Klap gives one video. KeyMo gives none, because it has no free plan. If a free test matters to you, that is a fair reason to pick another tool first.
Where KeyMo fits, and where it does not
KeyMo takes a YouTube link on paid plans, or an MP4 or MOV upload, from 5 minutes to 3 hours and up to 10 GB. It returns up to 15 vertical clips at 1080x1920, never 16:9. Each clip gets a score out of 10 and a one-line reason. Only clips that score 7 or higher are kept, so a weak episode returns fewer clips. Built-in targets are 3 to 5 clips from a video up to 15 minutes and 8 to 12 up to an hour. The 12 caption styles, face-tracking reframe, silence trimming, chat editor and ZIP export are included.
The limits are real. There is no free plan. Starter is $12 a month for 300 source minutes and Pro is $29 a month for 900. A single source video can be at most 180 minutes, so a 10-hour livestream is a job for OpusClip. Output is vertical only. Posting and scheduling are not part of what we claim, so if you want publishing inside the tool, OpusClip, Klap and Choppity list it.
A quick rule. Pick OpusClip for very long files or sources like Zoom and Vimeo. Pick Vizard if you want to steer clips with a prompt. Pick Klap or Reap if you want to test cheaply. Pick KeyMo if the source is a podcast or interview and you want a scored, vertical shortlist you can ship without a watermark. See KeyMo's podcast clip generator or compare it directly on the OpusClip alternatives page.
