Reap alternative: what reap charges, how its credits work, and where KeyMo fits

By the KeyMo team · Updated

KeyMo is a reap alternative for people who want one meter and no watermark: $12 a month for 300 source minutes, $29 for 900, no free plan. Reap costs less per minute when billed yearly and has a free plan, an API and dubbing in 80+ languages, so it wins on price and reach.

Who reap is for

Reap (reap.video) sells clipping, captions, dubbing and translation as one platform. Its pages stress languages: captions in 100+, subtitle translation in 100+, and AI dubbing in 80+. Its API page says every paid plan includes API, CLI and MCP access, and its Creator plan lists a social media scheduler and publisher.

That mix suits creators who publish in more than one language, developers who want to automate clipping, and anyone who wants the lowest entry price. KeyMo does not compete on those points. It is a narrower tool for turning one long video into a set of scored vertical clips.

The pricing page has a monthly toggle and says annual billing saves up to 40%, but it does not print the monthly price in the text we could read. Treat $9.99 and $29 as annual-billing rates. The help centre gives monthly credit totals of 60 (Free), 600 (Creator) and 1,200 (Studio), which match 1, 10 and 20 hours at one credit per minute.

How reap's credits work

Reap uses two kinds of credit. Media credits are minutes, and they pay for clipping, captions, reframing, transcription and editor processing. AI credits pay for dubbing, AI voiceover and the editor's emoji highlighter.

ActionCost
Clipping1 media credit per minute
Captions1 media credit per minute
Reframing2 media credits per minute
Editor processing2 media credits per minute
Dubbing2 minutes per AI credit

Hours are counted from the length of the source video, however many clips come from it. A time-frame slider lets you process only part of a video. Extra media credits come in packs of 100 and need an active paid plan. The help page says top-up credits never expire, while the pricing page says purchased credits expire in 13 months, so confirm before buying. A source can run from 1 minute to 180 minutes, up to 10 GB, as MP4, MOV, WEBM or MKV.

Cost per source minute

PlanPriceSource minutes a monthPrice per minute
reap Creator (annual billing)$9.996001.7 cents
reap Studio (annual billing)$291,2002.4 cents
KeyMo Starter$123004.0 cents
KeyMo Pro$299003.2 cents

On annual billing reap is cheaper per minute, and that is the honest headline. Take four 90-minute podcast episodes a month, which is 360 source minutes. Reap Creator's 600 credits cover that if clipping is the only charge. KeyMo needs Pro at $29, because Starter stops at 300 minutes.

Where reap is better

  • Annual billing is cheaper per minute than either KeyMo plan, and there is a free plan with 1 hour of clipping a month.
  • Languages: captions in 100+, dubbing in 80+, and a romanized-script mode for languages such as Hinglish. Dubbing is labelled Early Access on its clipping page.
  • API, CLI and MCP access come with every paid plan, from $9.99 a month. We do not list an API for KeyMo.
  • Paid plans export 9:16, 16:9, 1:1 and 4:5, while KeyMo is vertical only, and Studio goes to 4K.
  • Projects stay for 60 days on Creator and 120 on Studio, against 7 days for KeyMo source files and 30 for clips.
  • More link sources (YouTube, Twitch, X, Vimeo) and a built-in publisher for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • It returns more clips. Its help centre estimates 23 to 32 for a 30 to 60 minute video, against KeyMo's built-in target of 8 to 12 for up to 60 minutes. More is not automatically better, but it is more to choose from.

Where KeyMo is better

  • One meter. A plan is a number of source minutes, with no second kind of credit and no per-feature rates.
  • A stated monthly price: $12 for Starter, $29 for Pro, and Rs 799 and Rs 1,999 for visitors in India.
  • No watermark on any plan, and every export is 1080x1920 at 30 fps.
  • Each clip is scored out of 10 with a one-line reason, and only 7 or higher is kept, so you review fewer weak clips.
  • 12 caption styles, face-tracking reframe, silence trimmed, a chat editor for changing a clip in plain words, and a ZIP of all clips.
  • Reap's help centre marks its face tracking and auto text hooks as Beta, and says clip prompts in the app are in private beta. Test both tools on the same episode before you decide.

Other things to weigh

  • Pricing page buttons read start your free trial on every plan, but the text gives no length, limits or card rule. Find out before relying on a trial.
  • We found no refund policy for subscriptions on the reap pages we read. KeyMo plans can be cancelled at any time.
  • Voice cloning, filler word removal and noise removal are marked Coming soon in its comparison table.
  • Reap says a 60-minute video takes about 5 to 10 minutes to process. We make no speed claim for KeyMo, so time both yourself.

Who should pick which

  • Pick reap if you publish in several languages, need an API, want the lowest annual price, or want to start free. If you are also weighing quso.ai, its credits work on a similar one-minute basis.
  • Pick KeyMo if you want clean 1080p vertical clips with no watermark on any plan, one simple minute allowance, and a score on each clip.
  • If your episodes are long, remember KeyMo takes 180 minutes at most, the same cap as reap. See podcast to Shorts for how the output looks.
