Munch vs Opus Clip: what the two AI tools sell now, and what they cost

By the KeyMo team · Updated

Opus Clip is still a long-video clipper. Munch is not the same product any more: getmunch.com now redirects to Munch Studio, an AI social media tool for businesses, priced from $38 a month on yearly billing. For podcast or interview clips, OpusClip or KeyMo fit better; for planned business posts, Munch.

Munch or OpusClip: they no longer do the same job

People searching "munch vs opus clip" usually remember Munch as a tool that cut long videos into short clips. The vendor's pages have moved on. getmunch.com now redirects to www.munchstudio.com, which describes Munch Studio as a done-for-you social media platform for small businesses. It learns a business from a website, videos and photos, builds a content strategy, generates posts and videos, and publishes them on a schedule.

The old clipping flow still appears in Munch's help centre: upload a video, pick platforms, and the AI creates clips with generated subtitles, with tools such as Manual Crop, Extend clip, silence removal and a per-clip Coherence Score. We could not tell how current those articles are, since they show relative dates only. OpusClip, by contrast, is still described and priced as a clipper: it imports a long video and returns scored vertical clips. Everything below is from each vendor's own pages, read on 11 October 2026.

Opus Clip vs Munch plans side by side

KeyMo Starter$12$10 equivalent ($120 a year)300 source minutes, no free plan or trial
KeyMo Pro$29About $24 ($290 a year)900 source minutes

Munch also gives every plan a publishing planner, a performance dashboard, unlimited posters and carousels, and publishing to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok. That is a marketing suite, and its price reflects more than clipping.

Cost per source minute, with a caveat

OpusClip charges 1 credit per minute of the video you import, so credits equal minutes. Munch lists "Video Repurposing minutes" without defining them, so we are assuming they are source minutes. On that assumption, here is the published price divided by the minutes each plan lists.

Arithmetic from published prices. Munch's minutes may not be counted the same way as OpusClip's credits.
PlanPrice usedMinutesAbout per minute
OpusClip Starter$15 monthly150$0.10
OpusClip Pro$29 monthly300$0.097
Munch Essential$58 monthly500$0.116

Munch Premium$60 yearly rate1,000$0.060
KeyMo Starter$12 monthly300$0.04
KeyMo Pro$29 monthly900About $0.032

Munch's price per minute is not a fair measure of clipping alone, because the same price includes strategy, scheduling and generated posts you may not need.

Trials, free plans and watermark

  • Munch: every paid plan has a 7-day free trial. The pricing FAQ says you are not charged until it ends, while the terms say payment details may be required to start one. If you do not cancel, it converts to a paid subscription. A FAQ line says cancelling Essential "moves your account back to Free", but no Free plan is listed.
  • OpusClip: a permanent Free plan with a watermark, plus a 7-day Pro trial worth 90 minutes of processing that also exports with the watermark.
  • Munch's watermark policy is not stated on any page we read, so we make no claim either way.
  • KeyMo: no free plan, no trial and no watermark on any plan.

What each can take in

OpusClip is explicit: videos up to 10 hours, local uploads up to 10 GB (30 GB on Pro), and links from YouTube plus many other sources on paid plans. Munch's pages state no maximum length, file size or list of supported links, so there is nothing to compare. KeyMo takes MP4 or MOV from 5 minutes to 3 hours, up to 10 GB, and a YouTube link on paid plans.

On languages, Munch's help centre lists seven: English (US and UK), German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. OpusClip says it supports over 25, with only English, German, Spanish, French and Portuguese out of beta.

Who each is better for

  • OpusClip is better for creators who clip long videos in volume, need very long sources, want team seats or square and widescreen outputs, and like trying a free plan first.
  • Munch is better for a small business that wants a strategy, post generation and scheduling handled together, with multi-brand plans for agencies.
  • KeyMo is a narrower fit than either: MP4 or MOV podcasts and interviews up to 3 hours, scored clips out of 10, 12 caption styles and a flat minute allowance. It gives only 9:16 clips and has no trial. See KeyMo vs OpusClip and the Munch Studio alternative page.

A decision rule

  1. If the job is turning podcast or interview episodes into short clips, drop Munch from the shortlist and compare OpusClip with KeyMo.
  2. If you also need captions and posts for a business without a video library, Munch is the one built for that.
  3. If you must try before paying, OpusClip gives a free plan and Munch gives a 7-day trial. KeyMo gives neither.
  4. If cost per minute matters most, KeyMo has the lowest figure in the table above (Munch's rests on an assumption); weigh that against its 9:16-only output.

FAQ

Is Munch still a video clipping tool?

Not as its main product. The Munch site now presents Munch Studio as an AI social media marketing tool for small businesses. The older clipping features are documented only in its help centre, and we could not confirm how current they are.

Is Munch or OpusClip better for turning a podcast into shorts?

OpusClip, on what each vendor publishes. It states video length limits, link sources and a credit per source minute. Munch's pages describe a marketing workflow and give no limits for long recordings.

Why does getmunch.com open Munch Studio?

getmunch.com redirects to www.munchstudio.com, which now sells the social media platform. We have not read any announcement explaining the change, so treat older reviews of Munch as describing a different product.

What happens if I forget to cancel a Munch trial?

Munch's help centre says the account converts to a paid subscription after the 7-day trial and the card on file is charged. Cancelling before the trial ends means no charge, and its terms set refund windows of 7 or 14 days.

Do Munch and OpusClip support the same languages?

No. Munch lists seven languages for content generation: English (US and UK), German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. OpusClip supports over 25, but marks all but five of them as beta.

Should I pick Opus Clip or Munch if I only need a few clips a month?

Start with OpusClip's Free plan for a few clips, accepting the watermark and 3-day export window. Munch has no listed free plan, and Essential starts at $38 a month on yearly billing.
