The best podcast clip generators in 2026, and who each one fits
By Rakshit · Updated
The best podcast clip generator depends on the file you start with. OpusClip lists link imports from YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, Zoom and more, and has a free plan with a watermark. Vizard accepts audio and video files. Riverside suits shows recorded in its studio. Klap gives one free video without a watermark. KeyMo fits a finished video file when you want scored clips and no watermark on any plan, but it has no free plan.
How we chose, and what we did not test
We did not run one 60-minute episode through every tool, so there is no stopwatch or accuracy score on this page. Everything below is read from each vendor's own pricing, help and feature pages on 11 October 2026, and each claim is the vendor's, not ours. Where a vendor's own pages disagree with each other, we say so.
We kept tools that can turn a long spoken recording into short clips and that publish enough detail to compare. For each one we looked at five things:
- What you can feed it: a file, a link, or only its own recordings, and the longest source it lists.
- How clips are found and counted, and whether it says anything about a weak episode.
- Whether captions and a vertical reframe are part of the output.
- What the cheapest paid plan costs and what unit it is metered in (minutes, credits, clips or hours).
- Whether exports carry a watermark, and on which plans.
We left out Munch. Its site now describes Munch Studio as a social media marketing tool for businesses that builds posts and a content plan from a website. The site no longer leads with clipping. We also kept Submagic off the main list for reasons covered further down.
Quick picks by situation
- You want to try before paying: OpusClip, Vizard and Riverside all have a free plan with a watermark. Klap gives one free video and says it never adds its own watermark.
- Your episode is longer than two hours: OpusClip lists support for up to 10 hours, Vizard up to 600 minutes on its pricing table (its help centre says 10 hours for a local file), Klap up to 4 hours, KeyMo up to 3 hours, Riverside 240 minutes per uploaded file.
- You record the show in a studio tool anyway: Riverside, because Magic Clips sits inside the recording platform.
- Your show is audio only: Podsqueeze and Castmagic turn audio into audiograms. Klap's AI clip maker page says video podcasts are required. KeyMo's listed inputs are MP4 and MOV video and YouTube links.
- You want show notes and newsletters as well as clips: Castmagic or Podsqueeze, which are built around the written side of a podcast.
- You have a finished MP4 or MOV and want every clip scored, vertical, captioned and watermark-free on any plan: KeyMo.
Cheapest paid plan on each tool's page
Prices below are as listed on 11 October 2026. The units are not the same across tools, so read the last column before comparing the first one.
| Tool | Cheapest paid plan listed | What that plan meters |
|---|---|---|
| KeyMo | Starter, $12 a month | 300 source minutes; no watermark on any plan |
| OpusClip | Starter, $15 a month | 150 credits, 1 credit per minute of imported video |
| Podsqueeze | Starter, $8.99 a month ($5.99 on annual billing) | 120 podcast minutes and 8 video clips or audiograms |
| Klap | Basic, $14 a month billed yearly | 100 clips a month |
| Castmagic | Hobby, $19 a month billed annually | 30 hours of transcribed media in the library, not a monthly reset |
| Riverside | Pro, $24 a month billed $288 annually | Priced as a recording platform; Magic Clips does not use AI credits |
| Vizard | Creator, price depends on usage tier | From 600 credits a month, 1 credit per minute of video |
| Submagic | Starter, $19 a month ($12 billed yearly) | 45 credits, listed as 15 videos, each up to 2 minutes |
On the minutes alone, an hour-long episode is 60 of KeyMo Starter's 300 source minutes, so five such episodes fit in a month. The same episode uses 60 of OpusClip Starter's 150 credits, and 60 of Podsqueeze Starter's 120 minutes. See KeyMo pricing for the Pro tier and yearly billing.
What an hour of podcast could return
Clip counts are the number people argue about most, and vendors state them differently. These are the figures each one publishes for roughly an hour, not results we measured:
| Tool | Stated count for about an hour | What it costs in plan units |
|---|---|---|
| OpusClip | 23 to 32 clips for a 30 to 60 minute video (help centre guidance) | 60 credits |
| Riverside | About 2 clips per 5 minutes of recorded conversation, each generally 30 to 90 seconds, which works out to about 24 | None; Magic Clips does not use AI credits |
| Klap | 10 or more clips from 30 minutes; 20 or more from a 2-hour podcast (vendor estimates) | Counted in clips on the plan |
| KeyMo | Target of 8 to 12 clips for a video up to 60 minutes, never more than 15; only clips scoring 7 out of 10 or higher are kept | 60 of 300 source minutes on Starter |
| Vizard | No count given; it varies by content and a prompt reduces the number of clips | 60 credits |
A bigger number is not automatically better. OpusClip's guidance and Riverside's ratio both point to a long list per episode, which you then have to sort. KeyMo's published approach is different: it keeps only clips scoring 7 or higher, so a thin episode returns fewer clips. Pick the one that matches how much time you want to spend deleting.
OpusClip and Vizard: the broad clippers
OpusClip lists link imports from YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, Zoom, Apple Podcast and many other places, and says its system supports videos up to 10 hours. Its Free plan is 60 credits a month with a watermark and a 3-day window to export; Starter at $15 adds watermark removal. Starter and Pro users see a Virality Score from 0 to 99. Free plan users do not. The default clip length is Auto, up to 3 minutes.
Vizard says it works best on speech-based video such as podcasts, webinars and interviews, and recommends sources longer than 15 minutes. It accepts mp4, mov, 3gp and avi video plus mp3, wav and m4a audio files, and you can steer clipping with a prompt or keywords. Its Free plan exports in 720p with a Vizard.ai watermark and projects expire after 3 days. The two watermark rules are covered in our OpusClip watermark guide and the Vizard watermark guide.
Riverside, Podsqueeze and Castmagic: clips inside a bigger workflow
Riverside is a recording, editing and hosting platform, and Magic Clips is one feature of it. Clips are made automatically for recordings longer than 3 minutes that have a transcript. Riverside's help centre calls Magic Clips experimental and says results may vary. It cannot transcribe a YouTube video from a link, so the source is an upload (up to 240 minutes and 25 GB a file) or a Riverside recording. The Free plan includes Magic Clips at up to 720p with a Riverside watermark; Pro lists no watermark and up to 4K video.
Podsqueeze is podcast-first. You can upload a file or search for your podcast, its pricing page lists unlimited YouTube conversions, the AI detects chapters, and one click shortens a chapter to under 60 seconds. Audio uploads become audiograms and video uploads become video clips. Its pages do not say whether exports carry a watermark or what resolution they are, so we cannot compare it on those two points.
Castmagic transcribes first and then flags moments in the transcript. You can also highlight any stretch of the transcript yourself, and audio-only recordings become audiograms. Clips can be exported in 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 and 16:9, and Castmagic says exports carry no Castmagic branding on any plan. It describes no clip score and does not mention face tracking, and it does not list a clip export resolution.
Klap and Submagic
Klap offers one video free with no card, says it never adds its own watermark (free plan included), and lists sources up to 4 hours. Each clip gets a 0 to 100 score defined by Klap, and its reframe is described as content-aware with active speaker tracking. Its AI clip maker page says Klap requires video podcasts, so an audio-only show is out. Its pricing page does not define what counts as a clip, so check that inside the app before you pay.
Submagic sells Magic Clips as an add-on, which a FAQ on its AI Caption page prices at +$12 a month on annual billing. Its pricing page lists maximum video duration of 2 minutes on Starter, 5 on Pro and 30 on Business. None of those reaches 60 minutes, which is why it is not a pick for a full episode. See Submagic's watermark rules if you already use it.
KeyMo: where it fits and where it does not
KeyMo takes a pasted YouTube link on paid plans or an MP4 or MOV upload from 5 minutes to 3 hours and up to 10 GB. Link import fetches up to 1080p and asks you to confirm you own the video or have permission. Output is up to 15 vertical 9:16 clips at 1080x1920 and 30 fps, with a score out of 10 and a one-line reason on each, face-tracking reframe, silence trimming, 12 caption styles with word-by-word captions, a chat editor and a ZIP export. There is no watermark on any plan.
- No free plan and no trial. Plans are Starter at $12 a month (300 source minutes) and Pro at $29 a month (900 source minutes).
- Vertical only. If you need 16:9 or square versions, OpusClip (on Pro) and Castmagic list them and KeyMo does not.
- A 3-hour cap per source. Inputs are an MP4 or MOV file or a YouTube link; audio-only files are not on the list.
- Source files are kept 7 days and clips 30 days.
- This page makes no claim about KeyMo's speed, accuracy, language support or integrations.
If that matches your files, the steps are in how to clip a podcast, and KeyMo vs OpusClip puts the two side by side.
