Looking for a Submagic, OpusClip or Quso.ai alternative
By Rakshit · Updated
Submagic, OpusClip and Quso.ai are three different tools, so "alternative" means something different for each: Submagic users usually want a lower entry price, OpusClip users usually want no watermark without paying for a trial, and Quso.ai users usually want more source minutes per dollar. KeyMo fits podcast and interview clipping in all three cases; which of the others suits you depends on what you're giving up.
Why one "alternatives" answer doesn't work for three tools
Submagic, OpusClip and Quso.ai (formerly Vidyo.ai) solve overlapping but different problems. Submagic leans toward captioning and editing an already-short video, with Magic Clips as an add-on for turning long video into clips. OpusClip and Quso.ai both start from a free plan with a watermark and sell credits counted per minute of imported video. A clipper leaving Submagic is usually price-shopping; one leaving OpusClip or Quso.ai is usually watermark- or credit-shopping. The three sections below treat each switch on its own terms, with the numbers read from each vendor's own pages.
Submagic alternative: if you want a lower entry price
Submagic's Starter plan is $19 a month on monthly billing, for videos listed as 2 minutes long, and its page doesn't list Magic Clips (the feature that turns a long video into clips) as part of that plan; an FAQ on its AI Caption page describes Magic Clips as a separate add-on. KeyMo's Starter is $12 a month and includes clipping from a 5-minute to 3-hour source video as a core feature, not an add-on, with 300 source minutes a month and no watermark on either plan.
What you'd lose moving off Submagic: its export quality tops out higher (up to 4K at 60 FPS on its Business plan, against KeyMo's 1080p everywhere) and it has more editing tools around a clip, such as B-roll and caption translation. If 4K export or those extras matter more than entry price, stay on Submagic. The full breakdown is on KeyMo vs Submagic and Submagic alternatives.
OpusClip alternative: if the free plan's watermark and 3-day export window are the problem
OpusClip's Free plan gives 60 credits a month but renders carry a watermark, clips can't be edited, and exports expire after 3 days, per its own pricing page. Its 7-day Pro trial removes the time limit but still watermarks trial exports, per its help centre. If you're on the free plan because you don't want to pay yet, the honest alternative isn't another free plan with the same trade-off — it's deciding whether you're ready to pay $12 a month for watermark-free 1080p from the first clip, which is KeyMo Starter's price and what it includes with no trial period to work around.
What you'd lose moving off OpusClip's paid plans: it imports from more sources and accepts source video up to 10 hours long (KeyMo caps at 3 hours), and its Pro plan adds B-roll and a social scheduler. See KeyMo vs Opus Clip and Opus Clip alternatives for the full fact table.
Quso.ai alternative: if credits-per-minute math doesn't add up
Quso.ai Lite is $29 a month for 100 credits, at about 1 credit per minute of processed video, per its help centre. KeyMo Pro is also $29 a month but includes 900 source minutes — nine times the processed video for the same price, because KeyMo prices the plan flat instead of per credit. Quso.ai's Free plan (75 credits, 720p, watermarked, 7-day data retention) is the usual starting point; the trade-off is the same as OpusClip's: free comes with a visible watermark and low resolution.
What you'd lose moving off Quso.ai: scheduling to 7 platforms on its Essential plan and social analytics on Growth, plus exports in 16:9 and 1:1 as well as 9:16. KeyMo only outputs 9:16 vertical video and has no scheduling yet. See KeyMo vs Quso.ai and Quso.ai alternatives.
All three, side by side
| Tool | Entry paid plan (monthly billing) | Free plan terms | Clip export |
|---|---|---|---|
| KeyMo | $12/mo, 300 source minutes | None | 1080p, no watermark |
| Submagic | $19/mo, ~15 videos (2 min each); Magic Clips is a separate add-on per an FAQ | No plan listed; a "Try For Free" button and a mentioned 3-video tier with watermark | 1080p–4K depending on plan, no watermark on paid plans |
| OpusClip | $15/mo, 150 credits (1 credit = 1 min imported) | 60 credits/mo, watermarked, can't export after 3 days | Up to 1080p, watermark removed on paid plans |
| Quso.ai | $29/mo, 100 credits (~1 credit = 1 min processed) | 75 credits/mo, 720p, watermarked, 7-day data retention | 1080p on Lite and above, watermark removed on paid plans |
If you clip podcasts or interviews and want the usage unit to be minutes of your actual source video rather than credits or a per-video length cap, that's the gap KeyMo fills for all three. If you need 4K export, very long source files, scheduling, or a workflow you're already paying for and like, the links above go to the full comparison for that specific tool.
How to actually switch without losing a week
- Export or note anything you still need from the old tool — a brand kit, a caption style you built, a list of posted clips — before you cancel, since none of these tools migrate projects between vendors.
- Pick the plan by your real monthly source video, not the marketing tier name: add up the minutes of raw podcast or interview footage you clip in an average month and compare that to the minutes or credits each plan actually gives you, using the table above.
- Run one episode through the new tool before cancelling the old one. Paste a YouTube link or upload the same MP4/MOV you'd normally clip, and compare the output clips side by side.
- Cancel the old subscription from its own billing settings — KeyMo can't cancel another vendor's plan for you — and confirm the cancellation email before your next billing date.
