LinkedIn video length: limits and what to cut to

By the KeyMo team · Updated

LinkedIn's help page says a member video can run from 3 seconds on desktop (2 on the mobile app) up to 15 minutes. Company Page videos are listed at 10 minutes, and video ads at 3 seconds to 30 minutes with 15 to 30 seconds recommended. The pages we read give no best length for ordinary posts.

LinkedIn video length limits, as of 11 October 2026

The numbers below come from three LinkedIn help pages read on 11 October 2026. LinkedIn states a different limit depending on who posts and whether the video is paid.

In-stream ads are described by LinkedIn as being in testing and released gradually, so you may not see them yet.

Member video versus Page video limits

LinkedIn's member video page gives one 15-minute maximum, and only the minimum changes between desktop and the mobile app. It does not set a lower maximum for mobile. The 10-minute figure comes from a separate help article and is the limit for Page videos.

Ads differ again. LinkedIn recommends videos of 15 to 30 seconds so they can qualify for every placement, and says videos under 30 seconds loop until at least 30 seconds of playback. Ad videos must be uploaded directly from a desktop and cannot be a YouTube or Vimeo link.

How long should a podcast clip be on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn publishes no best length for ordinary posts, only the limits above and the 15 to 30 second advice for ads. What follows is our judgement.

  • Making a point or answering a question: 30 to 60 seconds is enough room for one idea with its context.
  • Telling a story that needs a setup and a payoff: 60 to 90 seconds.
  • Running it as an ad: start at 15 to 30 seconds, since that is the range LinkedIn names.

KeyMo's four length options cover that spread: Auto picks 15 to 90 seconds, and Short, Medium and Long give 20 to 40, 40 to 60 and 60 to 90 seconds. Every one sits far inside the 15-minute member limit and above the 3-second minimum. For choosing which moments to cut, see podcast clips for social media.

The 16:9 caveat

LinkedIn accepts portrait and landscape video alike, and its ad page lists a 16:9 landscape row. KeyMo exports vertical 9:16 only and never 16:9, so a landscape version has to come from your original recording. The file size and ratio page lists the ratios LinkedIn accepts.

A vertical clip is still a good fit when the audience is on a phone. When the post is aimed at people reading on a wide desktop screen, the original 16:9 file can suit better. You can post both: the full conversation as 16:9 and the cut-downs as 9:16. For a related limit on another app, see Instagram Reels length.

FAQ

What is the maximum length of a LinkedIn video?

LinkedIn's help page lists 15 minutes for a member video. Company Page videos are listed at 10 minutes, and video ads can run up to 30 minutes.

What is the minimum video length on LinkedIn?

A member video must be at least 3 seconds when uploaded from desktop and 2 seconds from the LinkedIn mobile app. Page videos and video ads both list a 3-second minimum.

Is the LinkedIn limit 10 minutes on mobile?

Not on the member video page we read. It lists one 15-minute maximum and varies only the minimum between desktop and mobile. The 10 minutes is the Company Page limit.

How long should a LinkedIn video ad be?

LinkedIn recommends 15 to 30 seconds so an ad can qualify for all placements across the feed and the Audience Network. In-stream video ads can reach 90 seconds, in testing.

Does LinkedIn say what length performs best?

No. Its help pages state limits and, for ads, a recommended range, but nothing on how long an ordinary post should be. Any best-length figure you see elsewhere is not from LinkedIn.

Can I post a vertical clip on LinkedIn?

Yes. LinkedIn's accepted aspect ratio range runs from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1, and 9:16 sits inside it, so a vertical clip uploads. Video ads list a 9:16 option as well.
