Submagic pricing: plans, credits and what a weekly podcast costs

By the KeyMo team · Updated

Submagic costs $19, $39 or $69 a month on Starter, Pro and Business, or $12, $23 and $41 a month billed yearly, according to its pricing page on 2026-10-11. Credits are used three to a video, and each plan caps video length at 2, 5 or 30 minutes. The pricing page lists no free plan.

The prices below are from Submagic's own pricing page, which shows each plan per member per month. You can pick monthly billing, or yearly billing at a lower monthly rate. The page also shows euro figures with the same numbers (19€, 39€, 69€ and 12€, 23€, 41€ yearly), so a visitor may see a different currency. Prices change, so check the page before you buy.

All three paid plans are listed as no watermark. The page says "billed monthly, cancel anytime" and the same for yearly billing. For the sums on your own footage, see the example further down, and for how a different tool prices the same work, see OpusClip's pricing.

Submagic AI credits: what 45, 120 and 300 buy

Submagic credits are not minutes. The pricing page turns them into videos: 45 credits is 15 videos, 120 is 40 and 300 is 100, which is three credits a video on every plan. What decides whether a file fits is the length cap beside it. A Starter video can run 2 minutes, a Pro video 5, a Business video 30.

That makes Submagic's pricing a good match for short material: a raw 60-second take that needs captions, hooks and B-roll. It is a weaker match for an hour-long recording. Submagic's pages do not say how credits are used for Magic Clips, translation or AI actors, whether unused credits roll over, or how long projects are stored, so we have left those out.

The page also sells API minutes: 10 a month on Starter and Pro and 100 on Business in the comparison table, although the plan cards say 100 on all three. Add-on packs run from 250 minutes for $57 a month ($0.23 a minute) to 10,000 minutes for $1,000 a month ($0.10 a minute). Seats matter too. Pricing is per member, and one mobile view lists 1 user on Starter, 3 on Pro and unlimited on Business.

Does Submagic cost money? Free plan and trial

The pricing page shows paid plans only, under the line "No credit card required" for signing up. A separate FAQ on the AI Caption page says there is a free tier of 3 videos a month with a watermark. The two pages do not match, so the free plan's status depends on which one is current. Submagic's terms add that it may offer a free trial at its discretion and can change or withdraw it without notice.

If you only want to know whether to expect a bill: assume yes. The three paid plans are the ones listed as no watermark, and the Starter plan starts at $19 a month, or $12 a month on a yearly bill. Our comparison of free Submagic alternatives lists tools with a free tier.

What the plan cards leave out: Magic Clips

Magic Clips is Submagic's long-video-to-clips feature. It finds key moments, scores them for virality and the page says one long video can produce 20 or more clips. Two details sit outside the plan cards. A FAQ on the AI Caption page says Magic Clips is an add-on at +$12 a month on annual billing, and that it makes clips from videos up to 30 minutes on the Business tier. The pricing page itself does not show an add-on price, though its plan links carry a Magic Clips option.

How to cancel a Submagic subscription

  1. Sign in to the Submagic app and open the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Billing and choose Cancel Subscription, as described in Submagic's terms of use.
  3. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, so you keep access until then.
  4. If you pay yearly, the plan renews for another 12 months unless you cancel before the anniversary date.

Submagic's terms say monthly and annual fees are non-refundable, and that no refund is due for the period already started. In practice, cancel a few days before the renewal date, and do not count on getting money back after a charge. We could not find a separate refund policy or a help centre page on credits.

Submagic cost for one 60-minute podcast a week

Take a four-week month with one 60-minute episode each week. Submagic's longest listed cap is 30 minutes, on Business, so a 60-minute file does not fit any plan with a published price. The only route we can see on the page is to cut each episode into two 30-minute files by hand, which gives 8 videos and 24 credits a month. This is arithmetic from the published limits, not a test.

OptionWhat you pay a monthSource minutes coveredNotes
Submagic Business, billed monthly$69Eight 30-minute files24 of 300 credits used; split every episode yourself
Submagic Business, billed yearly$41 ($492 a year)Eight 30-minute filesSame limits

KeyMo Starter$12240 of 300 source minutesA 60-minute file goes in whole; minimum input is 5 minutes
KeyMo Pro$29240 of 900 source minutesOnly needed above 300 minutes a month

KeyMo's yearly price is ten times the monthly one, so Starter is $120 a year. KeyMo has no free plan and no trial, and it makes vertical 9:16 clips only, with up to 15 clips per video. If your material is already short, the length caps above are not a problem and Submagic's caption and editing tools may suit it better. See also KeyMo against Submagic and the longer view in alternatives to Submagic.

Who should pick Submagic, and who should not

  • Pick Submagic if you caption videos of under 5 minutes in volume, want 4K and 60 fps exports on Business, need an API with minutes you can top up, or want text-based editing.
  • Pick Submagic Pro if you have a small team: the page shows 3 users on Pro, at a per-member price.
  • Look elsewhere if your source is a podcast over 30 minutes and you want clips found for you on a published plan. KeyMo accepts MP4 or MOV from 5 minutes to 3 hours, or a YouTube link on paid plans, and returns scored clips.
  • Skip the yearly bill until you have run one month on the monthly rate. The yearly plan renews for 12 months and fees are not refunded.
