What is the For You page (FYP)?
By the KeyMo team · Updated
The For You page, shortened to FYP, is TikTok's main feed of recommended videos. TikTok's own pages call it the For You feed, or FYF. Each viewer gets a feed ranked by a prediction of what they are likely to watch, like or skip, so two people opening the app at once see different videos.
FYP meaning and what TikTok calls it
People say "For You page" and "FYP". TikTok's policy and transparency pages say "For You feed" and "FYF". All four names point to the same thing: the feed you land on when you open the app, built for you rather than made of accounts you follow.
That distinction matters for clip makers. You do not post to the FYP. You post a video, and TikTok's system decides whether to include it in other people's feeds.
How a video gets picked, in TikTok's own steps
TikTok says it creates a prediction score for each candidate video, an estimate of how likely the viewer is to interact with it, and serves the highest scores. It summarises the process in five steps.
- Selecting videos that have passed content moderation and are eligible for recommendation
- Predicting the chance of liking, sharing, commenting or skipping
- Ranking videos by prediction score
- A similarity check that swaps out videos that look too alike, for example ones using the same sound
- Recommendation rules, such as including content from creators in the viewer's region
Signals about the video itself
Besides what the viewer does, TikTok lists signals about the video. Several are things a clip maker controls.
- The time the video was posted
- The video's soundtrack
- The length of the video
- The hashtags associated with it
- The language setting of the video's author and the region it was posted from
TikTok also lists what the system predicts: whether a viewer finishes or skips, follows the author, or spends a certain amount of time watching. Our reading is that an opening with long setup invites a skip. That is our inference, not a TikTok rule.
What keeps a video off the For You feed
- Content that is not suitable for a broad audience, which TikTok makes ineligible.
- Unoriginal or reused material with nothing new added, which the Community Guidelines say is ineligible.
- Content from accounts under 16.
- Videos that have not passed moderation.

Where KeyMo touches it
KeyMo makes the clip: vertical 9:16 at 1080x1920, with captions and a one-line reason for each score out of 10. It does not control placement on the For You feed, and nobody can promise a place on it. The TikTok algorithm for clippers guide covers the signals in more depth.
